Disturbing if true

Resorting to arm-twisting?

Resorting to arm-twisting?

I’m not sure how much of this is true, but Aaron Klein is not predisposed to writing alarmist garbage.  If accurate, it should make everyone wonder  if trusting Obama to be an even broker in Israel’s negotiations with the ‘Palestinians’ is truly in Israel’s best interest.  If it’s to be believed, he has taken most if not all the PA position vis a vis a final agreement with Israel.

JERUSALEM – U.S. officials in recent days expressed to the Palestinian Authority that President Obama’s administration is “disgusted” with Israel, a top aide to PA President Mahmoud Abbas told WND in an interview. Read more »

Showdown

Showdown

Well, it seems that all the lobbying Netanyahu and others did will come to naught.  The UN Human Rights Council endorsed the Goldstone report to punish Israel for defending itself.  Only 6 countries, it seems, have enough common sense to know that endorsing this will hamper the efforts of Western nations to defend themselves against terrorists who fight asymmetrically.  Some on the council went so far as to say Israel intentionally set out to kill civilians.  I guess this is the kind of mojo you have with an instant majority on most or all UN councils. Much ado about Turkey

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan

Seems like Israel’s ‘ally’ in the Muslim world, Turkey, has taken a step to the right and is trying to solidify it’s standing in the Islamic world by making overtures to Syria.  It started this week with Turkey canceling a huge military drill with Israel.  By the time we were mid-week, the Turkis Prime minister had blamed the cancellation of the drill on everything from the decision being the ‘will of the people’ to a delay in Israel supplying drones to the Turkish military.  The real slap in the face, of course, was Turkey canceling the drill and turning around and holding a large military exercise with Syria, Israel’s enemy.

And, in case you missed it, Turkey has gone the route of Egypt and the PA (and others) in their television pursuit of the demonization of Israel and the IDF as child killers.

Watch some of it here if you want to barf. ( You can read the denial from the producer of the series that this is about the IDF here)

For a country that’s worried about it’s possible admission to the EU, I don’t see how these moves are going to help unless it’s being made to pressure the EU while at the same time boosting their standing the Muslim world ‘just in case’.  What is clear is that despite the decent military ties Israel has had with Turkey, it cant be counted on as a reliable ally for Israel, must less an honest broker in Israeli/Arab negotiations.

Hezbollah are lying dirtbags. What else is new?

The explosion yesterday in Tyre, Lebanon which was at first swept under the rug as a ‘work accident’ is now exposed for what it is.  Another Hezbollah violation of UNSCR 1701.

The world is up in arms over Israel defending itself from 8 years of rockets, but they won’t lift a finger to enforce a resolution they enticed Israel into that would prevent another buildup south of the Litani River.  Who is surprised about any of this?

Gaza Tunnels

Gaza Tunnels

I guess this makes sense, but who would have thunk it?  Evidently Hamas wasn’t building all these tunnels under Rafah with their own money.  They were collecting money from Gaza residents and paying them a return each month on their investment.  Until, of course, Israel bombed the tunnel, in which case, their investment was lost. Obama wins the Nobel Prize

Obama wins the Nobel Prize

Update:  Great opinion piece by Karl Rove on the Wall St Journal regarding this bizzare award.

So I wake up way too early this AM and begin to peruse Jpost and Ynet to see what’s up for the day.  An article catches my eye which makes little sense to me.  Since it’s not specific to Israel per se, I figure it’s worldly context would allow for publication in the more well known periodicals.  So, I wandered over to the New York Times online and saw confirmation.  Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Rushing towards peace?

Every now and again, I actually find something worth reading over on the BBC World News website.  Today we find an article quoting Avigdor Lieberman saying what everyone with 1/2 a brain knows, but does not want to hear: Read more »

Reasons behind the current riots in Israel

Preparing stones to be thrown

Preparing stones to be thrown

Good Op-Ed today on JPost regarding the the background and the possible reasons for the current rioting.  From Obama’s careless use of certain Muslim ‘buzzwords’ to the desire to pressure Israel at the UN with the Goldstone report, this article has it all.

Aaron Klein provides excellent analysis as always.

Richard Golrstone

Richard Goldstone

Something finally goes right for Israel.  Libya decided to pressure Israel by trying to get an Oct 20th date in the UNSC to hear the Goldstone report and hope the rest of the Security Council would stick it to Israel and give the Palestinians a pass.  Abbas decided to get on board to win some points at home due to the ceaseless criticism by Hamas.

Ada Yonath shares in the Nobel Prize for Chemistry

2009 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry

2009 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry

Rack up another one.  Ada Yonath shared the Nobel Prize in chemistry with 2

Americans for their work in explaining how ribosomes act on the atomic level.  Yeah, I dont get it either, but Mazal Tov to her and to Israel.

That makes 9 Nobel prizes for Israel in 61 years.  Not too shabby.  Just for verities sake, there are 10 Nobel Peace prizes for the entire Muslim world, and one of the Nobel laureates is Yasser Arafat.  Keep plugging away boys..
